Update

Bill called. He was glad I had called and had noticed my racing thoughts from our earlier session this week. He and I have an appointment for Tuesday. In the mean time he reiterated what I have already said. But hearing his words the connection with another person other than my partner is comforting. Sangha. He told me to breath into the earth. Know this is real but not to buy into it.

just noticing the manic aspect of this. Sexual arousal, racing thoughts, jumpy, very distracted. This is the first time I have really been able to see this. It is minor compared to most others who are bipolar but I can notice it for sure.

Below are our email communications. I loved "engage in the energy with divine indifference. Just how to do that..hummm...I'll try his instructions.

Hey dear Patty,

So, we talked and I have every confidence in your ability to work with this. And doing so definitely has the potential to move you further along your path, so the fact that this is happening is a GOOD thing so let me be the first to wish you a happy anniversary!!! I'm convinced that we need these types of sweet afflictions in our lives to provide the emotional resonance to push through our stuck spots, and I encourage you to embrace this with just the right balance of interest (to engage the energy) and what a friend calls "divine indifference" (which will keep you from believing that any of it is particularly real).

I have a suggestion for lyour meditation practice, which comes from the book THE JOY OF LIVING by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche (p. 149).......meditating on form. It just involves choosing a physical object and focusing your attention loosely on it for several minutes as you breathe. Then just shift your awareness to an open relaxed state of just being aware of the present moment. The focus on form is a grounding device that my first therapist used with me in sessions when I started to get to analytical or excited about getting insights. If you don't have the book, you could probably just look at a copy in a bookstore, and might even want to but it.

Take care, Patty. See you next Tues............love, b

Hi Bill,
I just left you a message on your phone but didn't know if you would get it. Also I know you are leaving to go away this weekend. But if you have a second could you give me a call on my cell phone. I just want to touch base and perhaps set up a time to meet with you next week. I AM FINE. So if you are on your way out of town and don't have time I'm fine.

Feb 2 is my two year anniversary of going in the hospital and I am just wanting to ground with you about some things. It can wait. I just wanted to nip it in the bud or get a good base to stand on to go through this.

Thanks,
Patty
